Product, payroll
Payroll that does not guess at your tax.
No PAYE band, pension rate or threshold ships in a Luwawa release. Rules are dated data you supply, so a budget change is a new row, not a deployment.

Rules
How one deduction is written.
Every deduction on every payslip comes from a rule shaped like this. Nothing is hidden in the engine.
- Shape
- A fixed amount, a percentage of a base, or progressive bands.
- Base
- Gross, basic, or a named subset of earnings.
- Effective from
- A date. Old rows are kept, never edited in place.
- Exemptions
- Named employees the rule does not apply to.
- Overrides
- A different rate for a named employee, also dated.
- Order
- Where it sits in the pipeline, since later rules can read earlier results.
Recomputable. Because rates carry dates, any historic payslip can be run again against the rates that applied on its own pay date, which is what an audit asks for.
Cost
What the month actually cost.
Every approved run reports total cost to company, so a finance director sees the shape of the year without exporting anything.
Total payroll cost by month, MWK millions. Illustrative figures.
June 2026, the latest approved run: MWK 47.9m across 34 employees.
A pay run
Four states, and only one of them is editable.
Step 1
Draft
Pick the period. Luwawa pulls current salaries, allowances, approved expense payouts and any advances outstanding.
Step 2
Review
Line by line, per employee, with every deduction traceable back to the rule that produced it. Edit here or nowhere.
Step 3
Approve and freeze
The run locks. Figures stop moving even if a salary changes tomorrow, and who approved it is recorded against the run.
Step 4
Issue
Payslips appear in each employee’s workspace, branded from your company settings, and a bank payment schedule comes out the other side.
